Lemon Citrus limon , zingy, fresh and uplifting, lemon essential oil is part of the citrus Rutaceae family. This essential oil is obtained from the lemon peel by cold expression. The plant itself is a small evergreen tree and lemon trees can reach 3–6 m (10–20 ft) in height and can live for many years, reaching full fruit bearing capacity in approximately 40 years. 

Lemon essential oil’s therapeutic properties include Anti-anaemic, Anti-microbial, Anti-rheumatic, Antiseptic, Antispasmodic, Anti-toxic, Astringent, Bactericidal, Carminative, Cicatrisant, Depurative, Diaphoretic, Diuretic, Febrifuge, Haemostatic, Hypotensive, Insecticide, Rubefacient, Stimulates white corpuscles, Tonic, and Vermifuge.

Citrus limon is an excellent tonic for the circulatory system, reducing blood viscosity and helping to break up plaque deposits in the arteries, reducing cholesterol. It can be used for tonifying the blood vessels and may be used for varicose veins, broken capillaries, haemorrhoids and nosebleeds.

The antimicrobial qualities are useful for treating colds, flu, bronchitis, and asthma. Lemon oil is a mild detoxifier and is useful in the treatment for cellulite. The oil can be used for the treatment of acne and boils as well as warts and verrucae.

Please be aware that skin sensitisation can occur if the oil is old or oxidised. If applied to the skin at over maximum use level, skin must not be exposed to sunlight or sunbed rays for 12 hours. Cautions: Old or oxidised oils should be avoided Maximum Dermal Use Level: 2%.
