Joy & Excalibur

I like to have word(s) of the year. I treat them as a theme to base my goals around and to refer to through out the year.

Joy is an obvious one, but one that I need to remind myself of. Keeping the joy in life despite what it is throwing at me. Despite the self-doubts.

Excalibur is a card I have been pulling recently (from a gorgeous deck called Mists of Avalon). The sword (King Arthur’s) is called Excalibur and it represents forging a path for yourself, taking action and sovereignty. This is what I want for 2026: taking action and believing in the path I am taking.

My Writing Goals for 2026

  1. Post once a week on The Goddess Notes (I would like to encourage us self-doubters to keep writing, despite the negative self-talk).
  2. Finish the first draft of novel (not caring if its horrible – just getting the first messy rough draft done, from start to finish).
  3. Read one writing craft book per month.
  4. Keep reading fiction every evening.

I will just keep to my writing goals on here, otherwise the list will quite long! I think with the time I have available, the above goals are achievable for me.

If you would like to share your goals for 2026, I would love to hear them!
