Little Moments Add Up

Like me, you might not have the time to dedicate to spending a whole day doing something you love to do, but carving out little moments throughout the day can add up to feeling like you are still making the most of life.

Simple things like taking time to enjoy your coffee, or taking a short walk in nature and noticing the flowers, writing in a special notebook with a candle softly burning, can keep the enchantment going in life.

February in particular, can feel like a real drudge. The relentless rain has been particularly miserable. So I took a moment to make a gorgeous smelling little blend of rose, bergamot and vetiver, got up early and sat in the peace and quiet with twinkly lights, a big cup of tea and did some writing. I enjoyed this time so much that I have have done the same every morning for a week now.

I hope you are able to carve out a few little moments of joy and enchantment every now and again for yourself. You deserve it.

  1. That sounds delightful. I’d forgotten how much I love candles. It’s been extreme heat here so candles are the last thing on my mind. I might trade it for a sparkling water with mint leaves. Thank you for reminding me.

  2. PS I’ve never heard of vetiver. I love bergamot and rose. I’m off to look it up.

    1. Oh do try vetiver if you can, its very deep smokey woody, and just a drop along with bergamot and rose makes such a lovely blend. Vetiver is very grounding and cooling, perfect for a heat wave!

    It’s a priority for me!

When I kindly look after myself, and put time aside to do the things that I love to do,
I make my own world brighter, and automatically share that brightness with the rest of the world.

We’re all connected! Every smile touches every heart! 💛💛💛💛💛💛🤗

  5. Emma, how do you not get overwhelmed? I might be coming off a little forthright, but as a communication project manager for a nonprofit and writer, it feels like I get stretched in multiple directions. Meetings, deadlines, marketing, writing, editing vlogs. Feels like my day job is controlling me instead of the other way around, and the stuff that I used to enjoy seem more like tasks instead of hobbies. I’m running and getting nowhere fast. 🙂

    1. Hi Kevin, I do get overwhelmed – often! You sound very busy and you are right, things that usually bring joy, just start to feel like another thing on our list of to do’s. I also struggle to be creative when I get overwhelmed. When I start feeling too tired and overwhelmed, I force myself to take a little time just to read or go outside, even if for only 15 minutes, I find it helps a lot. Your horror stories are great I enjoy reading them 🙂

      1. Emma, great tips. A writer is always delighted to hear his work is read and enjoyed. I also like reading your blog. 🙂
