Magical Places to Write

I love writing with twinkly lights and candles, surrounded by my books and notebooks, and snuggled under a cosy blanket.

But sometimes it is nice to get out and about to write in a different environment, to rejuvenate and feel inspired.

This year I want to make more effort to get out of the house to do some writing. To write in the enchanting places near me, whether that is under a gnarly old tree, along the stillness of the canal early in the morning, or in the Ashmolean museum café in glorious Oxford.

To be honest I am a total homebody, and it takes much more thought, energy, and time to go out somewhere to write, especially as I don’t have a huge amount of time. The ease of just staying in can be so much more appealing. But in an attempt to get out to write more this year, I am trying to remove the friction points. I am putting together a small carryall, all set up with my notebooks and pens. I am going to block the time in advance, and just go. (This is probably wishful thinking but we can only try!)

Do you have any special places to go to write?

  1. I have to admit that when I put all the Christmas lights away, I decided to keep a new set I bought draped over my mantelpiece as my room looked so bereft! I love candlelight too. I write in cafes and outside in the park when the weather gets warmer! 🌹🌿❌️✍️❤️

    1. There is definitely something magical about twinkly lights and candles. I am all for making everyday life feel a little bit more enchanting! I struggle to write much in cafes, as much as I would like to, I think I get too distracted with people watching!
