Mid-year Reset

Where has the first half of the year gone? It has passed me by in a bit of a blur. I have just looked at the goals post I did at the start of the year and it has made me chuckle – who was I kidding?! Life has a way of throwing great obstacles in our way, the path is never smooth but that’s ok, that’s part of life.

It was a doozy of a start to the year. Three weeks into January, my husband (in his mid-forties) had a stroke. This was just after he lost his job in December. Thankfully, he is fully recovered now, and also happily in new employment. Two of my three sons had BIG exams this spring/summer, with talk of heading to university or college, I home-educate two of the three so the weight of pressure to get them through the exams was heavy. I also had a botched tooth extraction which left me in a lot of pain for over two months. I was completely exhausted with it all.

Now that I have time to breathe, I am proud of the fact that this time, I took a pause on some things but came back to them. I didn’t just give up entirely because I had to stop for a while. For me, this is progress. And now that I have started back up again, I realise just how much I enjoy writing on here. And for the second half of this year I am going to make it more of a priority.

My mid-year goals have a focus on replenishing my well and getting back to joy:

  1. Get out in nature every single day.
  2. Write anything I like, without worry, and as often as I feel the need to. With a beautiful candle burning.
  3. Rest when I need to.
  4. Find joy in the little things
  5. Eat nourishing foods.
  6. Ugh yes drink lots of water (anyone else hate this goal?! but I do feel better when I do it so it is going on the list!)
  7. Look into starting a newsletter

Do you have a mid-year reset and plans for the second half of the year?

  2. Wow that sounds like a huge half year! Good on you for surviving! I can’t believe it’s July. Time seems to be speeding up for me. I’m sitting in a cafe – drinking water 😉I am setting my July goals and reviewing June. Now I will think about half yearly goals as well. I’m not very good at sticking to goals but I do like to set them and imagine doing them. I am glad you are writing again. It’s necessary for some of us. I hope this half year is less hectic for you.

    1. Thank you 🤗 yes fingers crossed for an uneventful next 6 months! I am like you, I love goal setting – just not so good at sticking to them! I do get enjoyment from the process so I will keep at it. Sitting in a cafe to do your goals sounds lovely (and extra brownie points for the glass of water 🙂).

  3. Hey, Emma! I just stumbled upon your blog! 👋

And gosh, yeah, I have no clue where the first half of the year did go! It seems like time is passing so fast. I wish you the best of luck when it comes to your goals for the second half of 2026!

As for me, I’d really like to keep growing my blog and online presence, and hopefully land a remote position! 🙏

    Have a good day,

    Danae
