I have been feeling a bit stuck recently, having some big decisions to make has led to a feeling of paralysis with all other aspects of my life as well.
Decision fatigue can get overwhelming and sometimes we need a jolt of some sort to take us out of the overthinking. I find a change of scenery can work well, but my usual go-to nature walks didn’t seem to be working this time. So I took myself off into Oxford for the day, a city where you can’t help but feel the inspiration seeping back in.
It was a lovely day, full of pottering around just looking at the architecture and bookshops. And throughout the day I did feel inspired and more importantly, hopeful, but by the time I got back home the feelings of having to decide started to weigh again.
I dusted off my journal and decided to give journaling a go. I have written in the past that I generally don’t find journaling particularly helpful as I don’t like dwelling on things even more than what goes on in my head. I prefer creative writing to help take my mind off of things, however this time I decided to note down only positive, forward thinking thoughts and ideas, daydreams and goals.
And it has helped. Whilst I still haven’t come to a final decision, I do feel much more confident in making the right choice. I intend to keep going with my ‘journaling of positive thoughts only’ and see where it takes me!
Any suggestions of getting ‘unstuck’ with decisions gratefully received!
